Peru State Fall Sports Season Begins this Weekend

Three Peru State College athletic teams begin their seasons this weekend. 
 The Bobcat volleyball team opens the season at the Red Raider Classic at Northwestern College in Orange City, Iowa.  Peru State will play two games on Friday and two more on Saturday. 
 Friday’s schedule has the Bobcats taking on Dakota Wesleyan University at 12:30 p.m. Friday and tourney host Northwestern at 4:30 p.m.  Saturday, the ‘Cats will face Bellevue University at 9:00 a.m. and Morningside College at 1:00 p.m.
 The Peru State football team head north this weekend to open the season against the Trojans of Dakota State University in Madison, South Dakota.  Saturday’s game starts at 4:00 p.m. Both teams are looking to get off to a good start this season after disappointing seasons last year – Dakota State is coming off a 1-10 season while the Bobcats were 2-8 last year.
 The Peru State women’s Cross Country team will participate in the Tarkio Time Trials Saturday morning.  Several area teams use the trials as a gauge to their upcoming season.  Peru State’s first true competition comes the following Friday, September 1st, when they run in the Creighton University – University of Nebraska Omaha Invitational on September 1st.
