The Effingham City Council may be one step closer to finalizing sewer rates for the city.
The council has set February 15th for a special meeting on the topic.
They tabled the matter to that date at their regular monthly meeting last (Wednesday) night.
They also hope to make a decision on hiring the next city pool manager on that date.
According to City Clerk Pat Strine, three applicants have applied for the position.
The council also heard from citizens Linda Montgomery and Ida Tolliver expressing concern about the senior citizens center.
They told the council it was in dire need of repair, Strine says the council told the citizens they will work with them when the time comes to address the repair issues.
