(KAIR)--An Atchison child went to the hospital Friday morning after bicycle struck a car.
“A bicyclist, 12-years-old, went through a stop sign and hit a northbound car on 7th Street,” said Atchison Police Chief Mike Wilson. “She was taken to the hospital for examination of her injures.”
Wilson said the rain was the cause of the girl’s failure to stop. She tried to stop in the intersection but the wheels on her bike locked up on the wet pavement.
As a result, she struck the side of the northbound vehicle.
Wilson said she was conscious and alert after the accident, but was taken to the hospital for examination.
