( Nebraska Radio Network)-- The Better Business Bureau - Nebraska and Southwest Iowa is getting a lot of calls about an old scam with a new twist. President Jim Hegarty says scammers claim to be from an organization called Team Viewer.
Hegarty says after that the scammers say they have found the problem and will clean it up for $399.00 and they are more than happy to take a major credit card. He says not only have you allowed them remote access to your system where they can easily tamper with it but access to your credit card. He says most often immediately after they get ahold of that card number, unauthorized charges start appearing.
If you get a call from someone claiming to be from Team Viewer and say your computer is infected with malware, hang up immediately. Hegarty says if you get one of these calls the BBB wants to hear about it. He says you can log on to bbb.org to report the scam or call one of their operators. He says they have first responders ready to help sort the issue out.
