(KLZA)-- If you receive a call from the Richardson County Sheriff’s Office telling you they have a warrant for you but can avoid arrest by making a payment over the phone with a credit card, it's a scam.
Sheriff Don Pounds says the Sheriff’s Office does not collect fines and would never operate in such a manner. Pounds says local residents have received calls from a man with an accent claiming to be the Sheriff seeking payment with a credit card over the phone.
If you receive such a call, hang up immediately or contact local authorities.
