(Missouri Radio Network)--Missouri U.S.Senator Claire McCaskill is a sponsor on a bill meant to fight phone scammers and robocalls.
The bill also targets call spoofing, which is when a scammer manipulates the number appearing on an individual’s caller ID to impersonate a trusted business, agency or person. Fraudsters making calls outside of the U-S are also targeted in the proposal.
McCaskill thinks phone companies should also step up and use technology to block the scams and robocalls. If the bill passes, it would give the F-C-C more enforcement authority to suspend companies making illegal robocalls and increasing penalties for violators.
