Richardson County Commissioners Approve Radio Upgrades
10/01/2015

(KLZA)-- Richardson County Commissioners approved proposals Tuesday that will cost in excess of $125,000. Updates will be made in radio communications, county mapping and the courthouse heating system.

Commissioners voted to wave the bidding requirements of the County Purchasing Act to meet an emergency existing with the radio communications within the Richardson County Road Department.  A quote of $24,535 for radios, antennas and installation of radio equipment was approved.  Highway Superintendent Scott Huppert reported the radio equipment Haug Communications left on a trial basis is working great and highly recommended the Board move forward with the implementation of the plan to avoid any chance of communications not being available during an emergency situation with the Road and Bridge employees.

The Board accepted proposals from Titan Machinery, Murphy Tractor and Nebraska Machinery for leasing a loader. No action was taken but the Board will review the proposals.

Commissioners did approve the purchase of the Pictometry Programming.  The company will do a fly-over every three years with the imagery helping with assessment and measuring of buildings.  The County will pursue an interlocal agreement with the City of Falls City for their portion of the programming. The cost will be $81,812, spread over a three-year period.  The service should aid the City with mapping of utilities.

The expenditure of $19,897 with Platte Valley Mechanical Insulation Contractors to remove old, failed insulation and install new fiberglass insulation on the dual temp piping in the lower level of the Courthouse was also approve.
