(KLZA)-- Richardson County Commissioners met with William VonSeggern Tuesday concerning his contract as Richardson County Public Defender. The contract expires December 31. VonSeggern has requested to renew the contract but increasing the compensation by $10,000 for the first year to $58,000. The request is also to increase the compensation 5-percent for each year of the contract term. Commissioners took no action on the request but plan to meet with VonSeggern again.
At the request of County Assessor Pam Vice the Board approved a salary increase for the appraiser position in the Assessor’s Office from $15 to $18 per hour. The increase is retroactive to July 1, 2015.
Highway Superintendent Scott Huppert reported the Nebraska Department of Roads awarded the bid for the Verdon Northwest bridge project to Cohron & Son, Inc. for $933,799. The project will be funded with federal and state funding with a 10-percent local match required.
Huppert also discussed replacing or improving the bridge on the driveway leading into the County Shop area in Falls City. He also noted plans are being made to do some asphalt patching on the Rulo Road.
