06/16/2015

(KL:ZA)-- For the third straight year, health insurance premiums for employees of the city of Falls City will be decreasing.

The Council Monday night approved the recommendation of the Health Insurance Committee to stay with the same plan with a 4.48-percent rate decrease.

Dan Duren, a broker with Benefit Management who helps manage the City plan, said it is good news and rare news. Over the past three years, the premiums for health insurance for the employees of the City of Falls City have dropped 19-percent. Duren said his company rarely has groups that see their rates decrease.

The cost to the city for premiums is projected at nearly $192,000. The policy is with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Nebraska.
