(Peru, Neb.) Peru State College will hold its annual commencement ceremony at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 9 in the Al Wheeler Activity Center. Approximately 550 students will earn diplomas this spring.
Biology Professor Dr. Richard Clopton has been named the institution’s 2015 Teacher Excellence Award winner. He will be honored at the ceremony.
Attendees are invited to a reception on the Campus Quad immediately following graduation until 1 p.m. The Hoyt Street Jazz Ensemble will provide entertainment. In the event of rain, the reception will be held in the Student Center.

A groundbreaking ceremony for the Campus Entrance Project will be held at 1 p.m. near the Little Red Schoolhouse and T.J. Majors. The public is invited to attend.
The project, which will commence in May, includes widening of the street and sidewalks from Casey’s to the campus entrance, improved lighting and drainage, new parking, landscaping and a circle drive/drop-off zone.
The project is a public/private partnership funded by generous private donations, Peru State College, the Peru State College Foundation, the City of Peru, a Community Development Block Grant obtained by the City of Peru and in-kind contributions from Nemaha County.
