Omaha, Neb. -- For the 35th consecutive year, Bicycle Ride Across Nebraska (BRAN) is offering bicyclists the opportunity to take part in a week-long bike ride celebrating our state’s scenic beauty while also raising money for Nebraska scholarships.
This year’s ride runs from Sunday, June 7, through Saturday, June 13, and spans a total of 410 miles. The ride will begin in Wauneta and travel through Cambridge, Eustis, Axtell, Clay Center, Wilber and Syracuse with Conestoga High School as the final stop. BRAN participants help bring tourism to these towns and villages, boosting local economies and showcasing Nebraska’s unique communities.
While BRAN strives to offer bicyclists a safe and fun ride each year, their ultimate goal is to provide a BRAN scholarship at every Nebraska trade school, college and university. BRAN currently offers $26,000 in scholarships each year.
The cost of the ride is $180 for bicyclists 26-and-older and $100 for bicyclists 25-and-under. To register for BRAN 2015, visit bran-inc.org. Early registration with swag ends Friday, May 1. Registration will continue through day-of ride.
For more information or to arrange interviews, contact Kelly Bast at (402) 660-8276, or send an email to kellybast@unomaha.edu.
BRAN, a registered nonprofit corporation founded in 1980, was established as a “bicycle ride by bicyclists, for bicyclists.” BRAN, a nonprofit organization, is a non-competitive bicycle tour providing a safe and supported ride for bicyclists of all ability levels. Operated entirely by volunteers, including members of the Rotary Club, Omaha Northwest and Omaha Pedalers Bicycle Club. BRAN has visited 93 counties and 22 towns with more than 600 participants per annual event.
