04/10/2015

(KLZA)-- Richardson County Commissioners approved a change order this week adding three additional miles of asphaltic concrete overlay to the original work to be done on the “Dustless Highway” between 706 and 709 Road.  The added work will have a price tag of $471,957.

Highway Superintendent Scott Huppert informed the Board the Stella Southeast Project is underway with the bridge being removed and new construction to begin.  Huppert also reported all the Verdon Northwest project right-of-way has been completed and submitted to the State Department of Roads to be let out for bids.

Commissioners awarded a bid for 9.5 miles of armor coat work on various county roads to Topkote Inc. at a cost of $174,276.  It was the only bid received for the work.

Bids were opened for the purchase of a new motor grader.  Three bids were received ranging from $200,750 up to $250,265.  All bids were for new graders.  The bids were referred to Highway Superintendent Huppert for further review.

The bid for mowing the courthouse lawn was awarded to Sterling Lampe for $100 per mowing.

County Attorney Doug Merz and Sheriff Don Pounds met with the Board in executive session to discuss possible litigation.

Merz also received authorization to proceed with the foreclosure on nine delinquent tax certificates.  He also discussed the idea of Commissioners designating Richardson County as a Livestock Friendly County.
