(KTNC) -- Nebraska legislators introduced 460 bills and six constitutional amendments for consideration during this legislative session.
First district senator Dan Watermeier introduced seven bills. Some he says were introduced at the request of constituents and some on behalf of organizations.
One bill, LB-711, Watermeier introduced on behalf of the Department of Health and Human Services.
Another bill Watermeier introduced would make people with a developmental disability eligible for a homestead exemption if they meet certain requirements. The exemption is currently eligible to those over age 65, disabled veterans and their widows, or those with certain permanent disabilities.
Another bill, LB-881, amends the state’s pursuit law, which was enacted to protect innocent bystanders who are injured in a police pursuit. The bill clarifies who is an innocent bystander.
Other measures Watermeier introduced would allow farm wineries to apply for retail liquor licenses, and provide $2.1 million for deferred maintenance projects at Arbor Lodge State Park in Nebraska City. The maintenance projects need to be completed so operating responsibility for the park can be transferred from the state to a local coalition in Nebraska City.
