(KTNC) - The newest addition to Falls City’s downtown business district was welcomed with a grand opening and ribbon cutting Wednesday morning.
Stephanie Wendtlandt opened Stephanie’s Epic Cakes at 1721 Stone Street on June 8th. The business serves cupcakes, cookies, brownies, and breakfast desserts, along with coffee and cappuccinos.
As Stephanie explains, she started last year by selling cupcakes at the Farmer’s Market. (play audio :22 “anymore.”)
Stephanie says business has been going well. (play audio :08 “to sell.”)
Stephanie says she chose the name “Stephanie’s Epic Cakes” to reflect the cakes – which she describes as “amazing.” She experiments with different flavors – including some of her favorites. (play audio :12 “top three.”)
Wendtlandt received some help in getting the business going. She is the first person to complete an Individual Development Account through SENCA. That program allows SENCA to provide matching funds for someone to open a business, further their education, or buy a home. Wendtlandt says she also received guidance from Falls City EDGE in developing a business plan.
Location is also important for any business, and Stephanie notes that she is located next door to the Falls City Fitness Center. (play audio :09 “a little bit.”)
