(KAIR) -- Jefferson County North Theatre will be sponsoring a showing of Honor Flight on Sunday evening Jefferson County North High School in Winchester.
Thespian Troupe 6178 is hosting this community outreach event with the hopes of raising awareness and interest in the Honor Flight program.
JCN students first became aware of the Honor Flight after some of their group saw the film at The Omaha Film Festival.
They were so moved by the film and the opportunity it gave veterans; they choose to show the movie to kick off Memorial Day this year.
Honor Flight is a documentary about four living World War II veterans and a Midwest community coming together to give them the trip of a lifetime.
Donations can be made with all proceeds going to send Northeastern Kansas World War II veterans to Washington DC for their final mission- to visit the World War II Memorial, Arlington Cemetery and other meaningful landmarks.
After the show, a board member from the Northeastern Kansas Honor Flight program will offer information on how to become a companion or volunteer for Honor Flight.
Additionally, information for WW II veterans in our area who would like to go on their Honor Flight will be available.
The event begins at seven Sunday evening and there is no charge to attend the film.
