(KTNC) - In addition to several area fire departments and emergency responders, the American Red Cross also responded to a Tuesday fire that consumed a Rulo home.
Rosemary Niemeier, the Manager of the Red Cross office in Beatrice, says a volunteer from Richardson County was able to provide assistance to the family. (play audio :26)
Niemeier says the assistance offered by the Red Cross varies depending on the needs of the family, but can include putting funds on a card so the family can buy food and find a place to stay temporarily.
The State Fire Marshal’s office is investigating the cause of the fire, which destroyed the home owned by Ralph Popejoy. He lived in the home with his wife and three children.
No one was home when the fire started and no one was injured fighting the fire.
