(KAIR) -- Following an executive session Wednesday night, the Effingham City Council decided against a potential wage increase for city employees.
City Clerk Pat Strine says a reason behind the decision was not announced at the meeting.
In other business, the Council met with representatives of Haug Communications about bringing broadband wireless internet service back to the city.
This came following the removal of services by Rainbow Communications late last year.
Strine says the council may have a decision on a contract by next month’s meeting.
The council also put the emergency water hook-up proposal with Rural Water District Five on hold due to the success of acidizing of their wells.
A public hearing has also been set for next month’s meeting on the proposed merger of the Effingham Fire Department and Rural Fire District Two.
If the merger passes the city council, it will move on to Atchison County Commissioners for consideration.
