(KTNC) - The Humboldt City Council is back to full strength after Tuesday night’s meeting. The council appointed Doris DeJonge (de-young) to fill a vacancy as a Ward One Council member. The vacancy was created late last year, when Keith Carlin resigned his seat.
DeJonge will serve out the remainder of Carlin’s term, which runs through 2014.
In other business Tuesday, the Humboldt Council met with Richardson County Highway Superintendent Scott Huppert regarding repairs to a bridge that’s owned partly by the city and partly by the county.
Huppert will meet with the council again later this month to further discuss the plans, including cost estimates.
Emily Bausch, with the Southeast Nebraska Development District, met with the council about a SENDD program that would have Bausch serve as the Code Enforcer for the city. Under the program, Humboldt would contract with SENDD and Bausch would enforce Humboldt ordinances pertaining to nuisance properties.
The council made no decision on whether to contract with SENDD for Code Enforcement services, but the issue will be on the agenda at the next City Council meeting.
The Humboldt City Council did appoint two people to serve on municipal boards. Elaine Croston was appointed to the Library Board, and Jim Jones was appointed to a seat on the Auditorium Board.
