(KTNC) - Mound City water and sewer users will see no rate increase in the next year. The City Council last week decided to leave rates unchanged, following a review of an analysis of current rates.
The analysis shows that current rates are sufficient to support the costs of operation, debt, and repair and replacement reserves. An increase in the amount set aside for repairs and replacement reserves for future maintenance will be offset by interest savings from the redemption of outstanding bonds.
In other business, Mound City Aldermen awarded a contract to replace the City Hall roof to Edge Contractors of Burlington Junction. The company submitted the only bid for the project in the amount of $39,104.
The council rejected all bids the city received for the sale of the 1975 Chevy spreader truck. The city received two bids, one for $777 and another for $650. Laukemper Motors has offered $1200 for the truck as a trade in on a one-ton truck.
And, Mound City is ready for the coming season. Sewer Superintendent Kelly Graves told Aldermen they have about 52-tons of rock salt in stock for this winter.
