(KAIR) -- A 21-year old Saint Joseph man is dead following a single vehicle crash Friday afternoon one mile north of DeKalb.
According to the Missouri Highway Patrol, the accident occurred on route JJ shortly before 5 p.m.
The Patrol says a 1999 Ford Ranger driven by James Derry was southbound when he traveled off the west side of the roadway, overcorrected, traveled off the east side of the roadway, overcorrected, and off the west side again before he struck a guardrail and overturned.
The vehicle came to rest in a dry creek bed on its top.
Derry was pronounced dead at the scene.
The patrol says he was wearing his seatbelt.
They were assisted by the DeKalb Fire Department, Heartland Ambulance, Life-Net and the Buchanan County Sheriff's Department.
