Fire Marshal Investigating Falls City Fire
08/13/2012

(KTNC) - The State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating what local officials call a “very suspicious” fire at a Falls City house early Sunday morning.
According to Fire Chief Ken Simpson, firefighters were called to a vacant home at 1005 Stone Street at 2:00 a.m. Sunday.  Simpson says carpeting in one room had been set on fire, and smaller fires had also been set in three other rooms in the house.
He says Falls City Police officers were on the scene when firefighters arrived and had extinguished the carpet fire, leaving Fire Department personnel to put out the three smaller fires.
Volunteer firefighters were on the scene until shortly before 6:00 a.m. Sunday.
Simpson says the home had been involved in recent bankruptcy proceedings when the fire was set.
