( KLZA )- Richardson County Commissioners Tuesday met with Deputy County Attorney Doug Merz to discuss recovering costs to replace the bridge that collapsed in the Humboldt area on April 10th when equipment owned by Ag Partners Cooperative damaged the bridge.
Commissioners voted to authorize the County Attorney to file suit against Ag Partners Cooperative Inc. for damages caused by the collapse of the bridge. In a letter sent to Ag Partners by the County earlier, the county sought $746,220 in damages.
Commissioners also opened sealed bids for the construction of a bridge four miles north and two-and-a-half miles west of Falls City. One bid was received from M.E. Collins Contracting in the amount of $190,317 for the box culvert construction plus an additional $101,475 for the roadway items for a total bid price of $291,792. The bid was accepted for further review.
The purchase of a truck from Cornhusker International Trucks of Omaha in the amount of $150,000 was approved. The 2013 International 7600 SFA will be financed through the NACO Lease Purchase program and was bought at the state bid price.
Highway Superintendent Scott Huppert was authorized to prepare specifications and advertise for sealed bids for a 5-inch overlay on a portion of the county’s hard surfaced roads.
A route designated by the Richardson County Department of Roads for use of transporting an oversized / overweight vehicle used by Wardcraft Homes was approved.
The Richardson County Board also approved Deputy County Attorney Merz proceeding with 11 tax foreclosures; approved an agreement with the City of Humboldt for use of county road right-of-way for the Humboldt water transmission line project and notification was received that the Verdon Quick Response Team has disbanded and all existing members have joined the Falls City Volunteer Ambulance Squad.
