The final Holt County Bridge scheduled for repairs under Missouri’s Safe and Sound Bridge Improvement Program is finished.
Holt County Commissioners and South Union Township president Larry Wright joined representatives of the Missouri Department of Transportation on Tuesday to celebrate the opening of the final Safe and Sound Bridge in the county.
They met at the Old Channel Big Tarkio Bridge, located on Missouri Route 111 two miles south of Craig. The bridge had closed on April 16th to be replaced and was reopened to traffic on May 22nd.
The Safe and Sound Program will replace 190 bridges in northwest Missouri by the end of this year. Thirteen of those projects have been completed in Holt County.
