Lyndsay Drumm, a Peru State College senior from Bennington, was recently named to the Capital One Academic All-District 6 team for softball. Drumm earned her recognition as a pitcher in the College Division of District 6.
Student-athletes are nominated by current members of CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America) which is a national organization comprised of the sports public relations, communications and information professionals throughout all levels of collegiate athletics in the United States and Canada.
In order to be nominated, student-athletes must be a starter or important reserve with legitimate athletic credentials and at have at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) in either their undergrad or graduate work. As part of the voting process, information regarding a nominee's academic and athletic accomplishments are considered, as are any career highlights.
Drumm finished the season with an 8-9 record and recorded a save. Her ERA was 3.91 in 96.2 innings pitched. Drumm struck out 34 during the past season.
The highlights submitted for Drumm included the following: HAAC All-Conference Honorable Mention, MCAC All-Conference Second Team, Omaha World-Herald All-Nebraska Honorable Mention, 2011 NAIA Daktronics Scholar-Athlete (was nominated for this year as well), serving as an officer for two years with the Student Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC) – current president, serving as one of the coordinators for three years for SAAC's Make-A-Difference Day, being a volunteer with many different groups, and participating in many other community service projects.
By earning the All-District honors, Drumm will be in consideration for Capital One Academic All-America honors which will be announced later in May.
Drumm graduated Saturday from Peru State with a bachelor's degree in business administration – marketing option.
