Bobcats Devin Choate and Will Scott were named the Heart of America Athletic Conference (HAAC) Softball Player of the Week and HAAC Baseball Pitcher of the Week respectively on Monday.
For Choate, this was her first recognition while Scott earned his second honor by the conference.
Choate hit an even .500 last week going seven for 14 to help Peru State College (PSC) post a 3-1 mark and improve to 24-18 overall. The junior first baseman from Beatrice tallied a home run, three doubles, scored four times and drove in five RBI. Choate's highlight of the week was a three for four performance against Missouri Valley where she had a double, home run, and scored three runs in the 6-4 victory.
Will Scott earned his second HAAC Pitcher of the Week recognition.
Scott picked up his second Pitcher of the Week award after turning in another stellar performance on the mound for Peru State. The senior from Defuniak Springs, Fla., tossed two-hit shutout with just one walk while striking out ten in a 7-0 win over Benedictine last week. It was the second shutout of the season for Scott who improved to 5-3 and lowered his ERA to 2.98.
Both Choate's and Scott's teams are battling for post-season play.
