Peru State Softball Splits Games at Graceland
(Peru, Neb.) – The mission was to sweep a double header from the home team and beat them by 16 runs – an almost impossible task.
Unfortunately, for the Peru State College Bobcat softball team, they were not completely successful on Tuesday as they traveled to Graceland University in Lamoni, Iowa.
The Bobcats and YellowJackets split the doubleheader, with Peru State winning game one 3-1 and Graceland taking game two 7-2.
With the split, the 'Cats assure themselves of the fifth seed for the upcoming Heart of America Athletic Conference post-season tournament. They finished the regular season with a 10-8 conference mark and a 29-23 overall record.
Graceland snagged the third seed in the conference tournament, with a 12-6 record in the HAAC and a 21-18 overall record.
Peru State will travel to Baker University in Baldwin City, Kan., on Friday to open the conference tournament with a best of three series. A double header will take place on Friday with a third game, if necessary, being played on Saturday.
