Peru State Players Earn Conference Honors
(Peru, Neb.) – For the second week in a row, two Peru State College (PSC) Bobcats earned Heart of America Athletic Conference (HAAC) recognition.
Emily Maresh (Central City) and Bryan Duncan (Seattle, Wash.) were respectively named the HAAC Softball Player of the Week and HAAC Baseball Pitcher of the Week. For both Maresh and Duncan, this was their first time earning conference weekly honors.
Maresh won a Player of the Week award in her second sport of the 2011-12 season after being named the Volleyball Libero of the Week on Sept. 26 and Oct. 24. A junior, Maresh batted 10-for-22 (.455) last week that included a double, three home runs, three RBI and five runs scored. She homered in three-straight games to finish the week and converted her only stolen base attempt.
Duncan recorded two victories last week to give the Bobcats their second Pitcher of the Week award in as many weeks. A junior, Duncan tossed a total of 12.1 innings in two triumphs, allowing just two earned runs while striking out 13 against four walks. He tossed a two-hit shutout against Benedictine while striking out nine before going 5.1 innings against Baker.
