The Falls City Area Jaycees presented six community awards and handed out donations to several community organizations during their annual Distinguished Service Banquet Monday night.
Previous year’s winners handed out the awards to some very deserving recipients.
The Good Neighbor Award was presented to Vesta and Elmer Linderman.
Falls City Middle School English teacher Kory Huppert was presented with the Outstanding Educator Award.
The Boss of the Year Award was presented to Gina Scheitel.
Debbie Gruber was the winner of the Robert J. Chab Community Service Award.
The Outstanding Community Leader Award was presented to Terry Cummins.
And the Distinguished Service Award was presented to Brian Evans.
The Jaycees also recognized the recipients of this year’s Hugh O’Brian Youth Awards, sophomores Madison Olberding of Falls City High School and Kathryn Bieker of Falls City Sacred Heart.
The Jaycees presented donations totaling $11,000 to 23 community organizations.
In 2011, the Jaycees celebrated the completion of Community Field south of Falls City. Land for the field was donated by Cory Snethen, and is the new home of the Jaycees annual tractor pull and demolition derby.
New Jaycees officers for 2012 include President John Rowland and co-President Jennifer Willman, with officers Jenna Frederick, Jessica Fischer, Rachel Jackson, Kaytlyn Cooksey, Brian Evans, and Stacey Bailey.
