Atchison Man Facing Burglary and Theft Charges to get Competency Evaluation
A 35 year old Atchison man will undergo a competency evaluation to see if he’s fit to be charged on multiple counts.
The order was made by Atchison County Judge Martin Asher today (Friday) in Atchison County court for Gabriel Walls.
This came following incidents which the Atchison County Jail Captain reported to the courts that he couldn’t make his next appearance today (Friday) on felony charges of burglary, theft and conspiracy to commit theft, as well as misdemeanor theft and possession of drug paraphernalia due to "psychotic issues."
Judge Asher set Walls next appearance for January 20th, pending the outcome of the evaluation.
Another person allegedly involved and charged with the same charges, minus the paraphernalia charge, is 20 year old Lynn Ball.
Due to Walls current situation, her status conference was delayed to January 27th.
The duo was arrested by Atchison police December 23rd for allegedly breaking into Walls’ mother’s home on December 18th and taking a generator and lawnmower.
They were given the new felony theft and conspiracy charges on December 30th for allegedly taking a generator from a residence in Potter.
Both remain in Atchison County jail with walls bond set at 15 thousand dollars and Ball’s at 10 thousand.
