(KLZA)-- Area residents are invited to take part in the National Night Out event in Falls City beginning at 5 this afternoon at the Falls City Aquatic Park. The Falls City Police Department and the City of Falls City are hosting the events.
Hot dogs, chips, cookies and drinks will be served to those on hand followed by a number of demonstrations from various law enforcement agencies and first responders will take place from 6:30 – 8 o’clock.
While this is a fun event, it also has a serious side. One of the programs tonight parents will want to take advantage of is the Identi-Kid registration. Falls City Police Officer Zach Ractliffe says the kits are very helpful in the event a child should go missing. It will include fingerprints, identifying information and hopefully a picture of the child.
Some will be able to participate in the DUI and Don’t Text and Drive demonstrations. Some will also be able to sue the “Drunk Goggles.”
How about fun and raising money? Officer Ractliffe has assembled quite a “lineup” for the dunk tank to help gather food for Southeast Nebraska Community Action. For those contributing a non-perishable food item, they get a chance to dunk the North School Principal, the Middle School Principal and the High School Principal among others.
A large number of businesses, individuals and organizations and volunteers have donated towards tonight’s events.
Following the demonstrations, a free pool party will be held at the Falls City Aquatic Center, lasting until 10 o’clock.
