(KNZA)--The 50th anniversary of a plane crash near Falls City that claimed forty-two lives will be remembered on Saturday, August 6th.
The Richardson County Museum, located at 1404 Chase Street, will host a remembrance gathering requested by the families of the victims. The public is encouraged to take part in the remembrance, which begins at 9:30 in the morning at the Museum. Those who wish to visit the site of the crash can do so at 10:30.
The Museum will host a lunch and gathering following the visitation to the site.
The book Deadly Turbulence Air Safety Lesson written by Steve Pollock of Nashville, Tenn., is about the plane accident, and he intends to be present for the gathering.
Braniff Airways Flight 250 was en route to Omaha from Kansas City, Missouri on August 6th, 1966 when it crashed that evening in a farm field about 8 miles northeast of Falls City.
Thirty-eight passengers and four crew members were killed in the crash.
In-flight structural failure due to extreme turbulence in an avoidable weather hazard was cited as the cause.
