(KAIR)--A man is behind bars in Jefferson County, facing charges for sex crimes dating back several years.
28-year-old Kyle Schultz was arrested by the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office and booked into the jail Tuesday evening.
“They were Oskaloosa area crimes,” Sheriff Jeff Herrig tells MSC News. “They're probably four or five-year-old cases.”
says the alleged crimes came to light while Schultz was serving time for unrelated charges.
Herrig says the Jefferson County Attorney's Office attempted to work out a deal with the defense counsel for Schultz, related to the past offenses, but that failed; and, when he bonded out in connection to the unrelated cases, a warrant was issued for his arrest on charges of rape and aggravated indecent liberties with a child.
Schultz remains jailed in Jefferson County, apparently on a no-bond hold.
