ADA Ramp Approved For Hiawatha Home
12/23/2015

(KNZA)--The Hiawatha City Commission has given approval for a local couple to install a handicapped accessible ramp at their residence.

The Commission voted Monday evening to allow Vern and Mary Finley to construct the ADA ramp at their residence at 210 Cheyenne Avenue.

The ramp will cover the existing sidewalk in front of their residence, and will meet the city’s setback requirements.

In other business, Police Chief John Defore updated the Commission on the parking issue in the 700 block of Oregon Street.

Defore said he has visited with most businesses in the block and they indicated their willing to have their employees park behind their business or on side streets, with several businesses already doing so.

Defore says he will continue to monitor the situation. The owners of Giggle Girls Bakery appeared at the January 7th Commission meeting to ask that something be done about the lacking of parking along the street, such as posting time-limited parking signs. It was the consensus of Commissioners that the businesses should be approached first to see what kind of compromises could be made.

Well wasnt that mighty fricken white of the Commission to approve someone who needed a handicap ramp, ALLOWING them to build it or have it built? Who thinks like this? Who goes around saying, you need to ask me for permission to build something you want or need on your home or on your property? The thought that one grown adult has to ask permission to fulfill a NEED is absolutely preposterous! How DARE you City of Hiawatha! How dare you scumbags on the Commission EVER have made such an ordinance. How DARE you! Who the hell do you think you are?

Is this the land of LIBERTY or is this the land of statists demanding you ask for permission, and therefore can be denied, before you ever do ANYTHING on the property you own? I simply cannot wrap my head around the mindset of an individual who thinks like this. Statism is a serious mental illness. People who seek to control any and every action of another person are simply looking to compensate for their own shortcomings, seeking to feel better about themselves by demanding to feel superior to others. You people need serious mental help.

Ask permission my @$$. If you dont like what Im doing on my property, dont fricken look at it. It is NONE of your business what anyone else does with their own property. If they want to live in a shanty, and thats all they can afford, so what? Its none of your business! We had a a dirtbag judge throw Horton resident, Kenneth Knudson in jail because part of the bricks were falling off his home/business. This damage was in the rear of the building, and a simple fence could have kept anyone off that propertys rear access, which no one had any business on to begin with. But here, in the land of LIBERTY people go to jail for such nonsense because statists think they have a RIGHT to dictate what another can or cannot do with or on their own property. Insanity!
