(KMZA)--Two cases involving the theft of vending machines, resulting in thousands of dollars in damages, are under investigation in Nemaha County.
The Sheriff's Office reports that both crimes happened during the early morning hours of Monday, with the soda pop machines stolen and then abandoned.
One theft happened at 1719 State Highway 9, in Goff, sometime between 2:30 and 5:45 in the morning. A 7-UP machine was taken, and later found dumped in a ditch outside of Goff.
The damage is estimated at more than $2,000 dollars.
A similar crime occurred between midnight and 7:00 Monday morning, when a Pepsi machine was stolen from 1189 96th Road in Seneca. The Sheriff's Office says that vending machine was discovered later, abandoned about a mile away from where it had been taken.
The damage estimate in that case is valued at nearly $1,500 dollars.
There's no immediate word of any suspects in the theft cases, and investigators have not stated whether or not they believe the two crimes are connected.
Anyone with information related to the thefts is urged to contact the Nemaha County Sheriff's Office.
