(MSC News)--Unemployment in area northeast Kansas counties fell or held steady in October.
That’s according to the latest figures released by the Kansas Department of Labor.
Atchison County had the highest jobless rate in the area at 5.6 percent, while Nemaha County had the lowest at 2.1 percent.
Elsewhere, Brown County’s unemployment rate in October was 3.4 percent; Doniphan, 3.7 percent; Jackson, 3 percent; Jefferson, 3.4 percent; Leavenworth, 4 percent; Marshall, 2.2 percent and Pottawatomie, 2.8 percent.
Statewide, the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate in October was 4.1 percent. That’s down from 4.4 percent in September and 4.2 percent in October 2014.
The October unemployment rate was the lowest Kansas has recorded in more than 14 years.
