(KNZA)--Jackson County Commissioners have approved the purchase of a building to serve as the new home for the county shop.
The Holton Recorder reports the Commission this week unanimously approved the purchase of the current Forrester Truck Parts and Repair building along with seven acres for $350,000. The property is located at the intersection of 246th Road and U.S. Highway 75, north of Holton.
Commissioners say only minor renovations will have to be made to the building before the county can occupy it. The county expects to move in in late March or April of next year.
Commissioners say the current shop, in the 500-block of Lowell Avenue in Holton, wasn’t designed for today’s larger equipment.
In recent weeks, Commissioners had been looking at the construction of a new county shop building.
