(KLZA)-- In an attempt to find out the feelings of the public, students and business community the Auburn Board of Education conducted a community engagement meeting last week.
Superintendent Kevin Reiman said a Nebraska Association of School Boards member facilitated the gatherings during the day. Approximately 20 business leaders met for a luncheon at noon. Student Council members met with the facilitator in the afternoon and more than 40 members of the public attending the evening meeting.
Reiman said some of the areas of concern were maintaining infrastructure and keeping up with technology. The group was also interested in moving forward with a performing arts center and an additional gymnasium.
Communicating to the public what is happening at the schools and providing hands on training for students including expanding vocational opportunities for students were also top discussion points.
The Auburn Board will be receiving a report to determine what steps the District needs to take in the future.
