(KNZA)--The jury trial for a former Jefferson County fire chief accused of the theft of funds was canceled this week and a diversion hearing set for December 21st in the case.
John Gordon, of Valley Falls, pleaded “ not guilty” last November in Jefferson County District Court to felony charges of misuse of public funds and theft.
Authorities say he stole between $1,000 and $25,000 while serving as fire chief of Jefferson County Fire District #11.
He was arrested in June of last year following an investigation by the Kansas Bureau of Investigation.
