Kansas Highway Patrol
(KNZA)--A two vehicle early evening Leavenworth County crash Wednesday sent two to the hospital.
The Kansas Highway Patrol says it happened shortly before 5:30, on U.S. Highway 73, at Kansas City, Kansas.
A southbound vehicle, driven by 64-year-old Ernest Vallandingham, of Lansing, was making a left hand turn onto eastbound Hollingsworth Road. Another southbound vehicle behind him, driven by 43-year-old Sofia Carreno-Paredes, of Leavenworth, couldn't slow down in time and swerved into a median, and then into the rear of Vallandingham's Cadillac.
Both drivers, wearing seatbelts, suffered injuries, and were transported for hospitalized treatment.
Two children in the Carreno-Paredes vehicle, aged 3 and 14, suffered possible injuries but were not taken to a hospital.
