The 2015 Fort Riley Retiree Appreciation Day takes place at Riley’s Conference Center here Oct. 23 from 8 am to 3:30 p.m.
The event offers flu shots / vaccinations, retiree-specific information packets and booths, lunch and guest speakers from the 1st Infantry Division, Irwin Army Community Hospital, TRICARE/healthcare experts, commissary and Exchange.
There is a luncheon scheduled from noon to 1 p.m. that features Lt. Col. (Ret.) Robert Kornacki, talking about the “Lone Survivor of the Battle of Little Big Horn.” Registration and payment for the luncheon must be sent to the Fort Riley Retirement Services Office no later than Oct. 16. Those planning to attend the event who don’t have a Department of Defense ID card need to make advanced plans for entrance onto Fort Riley; a one-day pass is required for those without a DoD ID card. Passes are issued at the Henry Gate visitors center located at exit 301 off Interstate 70. To speed the process, retirees can call the Retirement Services Office and ask to be added to the Special Post Access List. Callers need to provide their name, address, birthdate and state-issued driver’s license number.
