(MSC News)--A Wathena man is facing charges in connection with a vehicle crash that left a Saint Joseph, Missouri teenager seriously injured.
KQ2-TV reports that Steven Whittaker has been charged with second degree assault in connection with the late August wreck.
Authorities say the 30-year-old was driving while intoxicated at the time it happened on Route FF in Agency, Missouri.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol at the time said Whitaker was northbound when he failed to negotiate a curve, sending his Ford Bronco across the center line where it struck the front driver's side of the car driven by 17-year-old Tyler Hoffman.
Hoffman required helicopter transport to the University of Kansas Hospital in Kansas City, Kansas due to the serious nature of his injuries.
