(KNZA)--Top national honors for a local telecommunications company.

That happened September 21st when Everest-based Rainbow Communications was presented with the Showcase Award, the highest honor of the NTCA, the Rural Broadband Association.

According to a press release from Rainbow, the company stood out among the competition, based on Rainbow's recent investment of $20 million to upgrade its broadband network. That included the installation of a 100% Fiber to Home Network in its cooperative exchanges and a core Fiber network for anchor institutions, including schools, hospitals, and government offices in Hiawatha, Sabetha, and Seneca. The upgrade means offerings up to 1 gig symmetrical.

Jason Smith, Assistant General Manager of Rainbow Communications, calls the award “an honor for all of us to celebrate,” and says the company is honored to be nationally recognized for its community contributions.
