New Brown County Clerk Sworn In
10/05/2015

(KNZA)-- Brown County officially has a new county clerk.

District Judge John Weingart administered the oath of office to Melissa Gormley during Monday’s County Commission meeting.

That comes after Governor Sam Brownback approved the appointment of Gormley to fill the unexpired term of the late Debbie Parker who died August 28th.

The Brown County Republican Central Committee last month selected Gormley to fill Parker’s term, which expires in January 2017.  The position is up for election in November 2016, and Gormley says she will seek election.

Gormley has been a county employee since 2007, and worked in the County Clerk’s office since April 2013.  She had served as deputy county clerk since 2014.
