Atchison Co Corn Shucking Contest Sunday
10/02/2015

(KAIR)--The 24th annual corn shucking competition is set to take place this weekend in Atchison County.

The event started in 1991, when the late Bob Staley, a local corn shucking legend, was challenged by two men to see who could shuck corn the fastest. Staley beat both men, and won $200. The event has been held ever since.

Each participant, whether it be adult or child, has ten minutes to shuck as much corn as possible.

The event will take place this Sunday starting at 12:00 noon, at the Slattery Farm in rural Atchison County.
