(KNZA)--An 18-year-old who authorities say prompted a lockdown at a St. Joseph school has been formally charged.
KQ2-TV reports Tri Tran has been charged with a misdemeanor count of making terroristic threats.
Police say Tran allegedly sent pictures to students inside the Lafayette High School Friday to make it appear he was on school grounds and could possibly have a weapon.
According to court documents, school officials believed Tran had access to guns based on posts to social media. The threat forced the school to go into a lockdown for about two hours.
Police arrested Tran at a residence and say he was never inside the school. They say he has threatened students in the past.
Tran remains in the Buchanan County Jail on a $10,000 bond, and is scheduled to appear in court Tuesday.
