(KAIR)-- A Huron, Kansas man was killed, and his wife injured, in a motorcycle crash Thursday afternoon on Interstate-29 in Platte County, Missouri.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol says 41-year-old John Bledsoe was southbound when a mechanical problem caused his Harley Davidson motorcycle to begin sliding. The motorcycle overturned, and Bledsoe was thrown to the roadway. A southbound sport utility vehicle swerved to avoid hitting the motorcycle and struck Bledsoe.
Bledsoe was pronounced dead at the scene.
His 46-year-old passenger, Michelle Bledsoe, was transported to North Kansas City Hospital with moderate injuries. The driver of the SUV was not hurt.
The wreck was reported shortly after 1:30
Traffic was re-routed onto I-435 for more than four hours while authorities worked the wreck scene.
