Nemaha Co EMS Getting New Radios

(KMZA)--Nemaha County EMS will getting new radio’s

At the request of EMS representatives, the County Commission Monday approved the purchase of twenty-one multi-band hand-held radios and five mobile radios from Haug Communications for an amount not to exceed $60,000. Funding for the new radios will be paid out of the county’s capital outlay fund.

EMS officials said the radios will improve current communications by allowing them to communicate with dispatch, and law enforcement while on calls.

The EMS representatives also informed Commissioners they will be hosting advanced emergency training for three current EMT’s who wish to continue their training to become paramedics.

They said the costs will be covered partially by grants from the state and asked Commissioners if they would pay the $500 fee the individuals would be responsible for to take the class. The Commission agreed to pay the fee for each student, with the funding to come from the Broxterman funds.

Commissioners were also told the Nemaha County EMS has received an award of outstanding service from Kansas Board of Emergency Medical Services. They said few services qualify to receive the award.
