(KAIR)--A Pittsburg man was arrested Friday morning after allegedly attempting to burglarize an Atchison home.
Police Chief Mike Wilson says it happened after officers responded to a report of a burglary in progress in the 700 block of U Street in which a “57-year-old victim had been inside the residence when someone attempted to get into the house, that resident fled the area. When we arrived, we did take into custody a 22-year-old Pittsburg man who had broken into the house, we arrested him at the scene.”
Wilson says police believe that Justin Jones was also involved in a vehicle wreck, earlier that same day in the 700 block of South Ninth Street. A vehicle had struck a sign, and the driver had fled the scene, though the vehicle remained.
Jones was booked into the Atchison County Jail on charges including aggravated burglary, theft, and criminal damage to property. He was also cited for no proof of insurance, speeding, and leaving the scene.
