(KAIR)--The Kansas Department of Transportation has announced that a road resurfacing project will begin Wednesday evening on a section of U.S. 73/K-7 in Leavenworth County.
According to a release from KDOT, the work will take place on a more than 4 mile stretch of the road from Gilman Road in Lansing, to Limit Street in Leavenworth.
The work is scheduled to start at 7:00 and should be completed by 6:00 the following morning each day. Northbound and then southbound U.S. 73/K-7 will be reduced to one lane in each direction, several miles at a time. There will also be intermittent closures of adjacent cross roads during the project.
Project work includes the application of a 5/8 inch layer of new asphalt over the existing pavement.
Traffic will be directed through the project work zone via signage, cones, and barriers. There will be an eleven foot lane width restriction and a reduced posted speed limit.
Work is scheduled to be completed by early October, weather permitting.
Ideker, Inc., of St. Joseph, is the primary contractor on the more than $900,000 project.
