(KMZA)--Longtime Seneca Police Chief Brent Schulte is saying goodbye, preparing for his final day as the city's top law enforcement official on September 25th. “[I] very much enjoyed working for the Seneca Police Department and interacting with the citizens of Seneca,” Schulte told MSC News.
Having served as Chief of Police for nine years, Schulte submitted his letter of resignation last Friday, saying he plans to relocate to the Perry Lake area, which will bring him closer to his son. “When I left Topeka in 1999, I moved to Nemaha County so that my kids could attend a rural community school where I grew up, and now that my youngest has graduated, and is a freshman at KU, I was looking for something down in that neck of the woods.”
Schulte looks back on his time in Seneca, and feels he made good accomplishments while serving the community. “Cleaning up is what they hired me for. We made a positive improvement to the community as far as getting the trash and the problems cleared up. More drug arrests, more cases solved, and positive interaction with the other law enforcement agencies I think are all good things that I look back on that I felt we did a good job of.”
Schulte isn't leaving law enforcement entirely, but will instead enter a new chapter in his career, having accepted an investigative position with the Kansas Lottery.
